Future Developments

MANILA, Philippines: If you're wondering where the stations of the nation's first underground train system are located, you might be wondering as building on the Metro Manila Subway picks up speed. The 17 stations that make up the Metro Manila Subway will run from East Valenzuela in the north to Bicutan in the south. The nation's primary airport will now be connected to a train system thanks to a spur line that runs alongside the 33-kilometer metro and links to NAIA Terminal 3.

The National Economic Development Authority is considering a proposed monorail project that will connect MRT Line 3’s station at Guadalupe to Uptown Bonifacio, Megaworld’s mixed-use estate in north BGC. In 2017, Infracorp, a company affiliated with Megaworld Corporation, proposed the Skytrain project. According to Infracorp's proposal, the train will utilize automated cable-propelled monorail technology, with stations to be built in Guadalupe, Makati near the MRT station, and in Uptown Bonifacio, at no cost to the government.

In order to fulfill a long-standing plan, the BDCA aided the Philippines Senate in acquiring an approximately two-hectare plot in a new expansion zone of Bonifacio Global City, a district in Metro Manila, for the construction of their new building. Demonstrating the country's increasing confidence, the Senate initiated a global conceptual design competition in late 2017 to initiate the project, named "Bagong Senado" in Filipino, meaning "New Senate." The design competition evaluated entries based on their iconic and distinctive design, feasibility, sustainability, functionality, and security. The inauguration of this building is scheduled for July 2021.

The Supreme Court of the Philippines currently occupies a building on a lot owned by the University of the Philippines Manila and has not owned its own property in nearly a century. Plans to move to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) were discussed as early as August 2014. By July 2015, the court was exploring the possibility of purchasing a lot in the business center using funds from the Department of Budget and Management. It was anticipated that the court would relocate to a newer building by 2019.

A contract worth ₱1.29 billion was signed between the Supreme Court and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, preceding a groundbreaking ceremony held in October 2015 on the lot designated for the new Supreme Court building complex. It was projected that the design phase would commence in 2016, followed by construction from 2017 to 2019. An environmentally-sustainable design is envisioned for the new building.
